About me

Hey, my name's Andy.  I'm a Mechanical And Manufacturing Engineering Technologies graduate from Texas A&M University.  Born and raised in Houston, Texas, I grew up playing baseball, video games, and working my way through school to be an engineer.  I'm currently living in Kochi, Japan teaching technical and engineering related English.  My hobbies include video games, watching anime, and Aikido!

Although I never really pictured myself as an author, over the past few years, it's really become an enjoyable hobby.  I always make it a point in my free time to go see the latest Marvel or DC movie, or catch up on some great anime that I've fallen behind on, but writing can be so much more fun.  You get to become the creator and build your entire world from the ground up.  You can be your own superhero!

When I started writing, one of the first things that I wanted to do was share it with others so that they could enjoy something that I put so much hard work and effort into.  One of the problems that I encountered, though, was myself!  I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, you see.  I've spent years working on Psychics, writing numerous outlines, working on character development, and building a really big backstory.  Plus, I really want Psychics to be at least a trilogy, which meant having to do all of this for 3 books worth of material just to write the first one!  I want it all to be perfect!  That's most of the reason why I wanted to do a kickstarter.

While I have tons confidence in my story, character development, and plot progression, I feel that my biggest weakness might be the writing itself.  After all, I'm an engineer, I build.  It's what I do.  I can build a world full of excitement, drama, and adventure.  But when it comes to putting the words on the paper, I'm only an amateur author.  So, I decided that the best way to handle this was to have Psychics professionally edited an reviewed.  Sounds easy, right?  Well, it is!  But unfortunately it is a bit pricey.

Someone recently asked me why I don't just pay for the editing myself.  "I could do that," I thought.  I could have it edited and then present it to an publishing agent and hope for the best.  Hopefully they'd publish it and I'd start selling books.  "But that's so boring," is what I ended up thinking to myself.  I'd much prefer the big flashy entrance, having people who are genuinely interested in reading it to work together to build something amazing.  Plenty of people can say, "I published a book."  But how many can say, "I and a hundred or so other people banded together to build this story?"  Does that just sound so much better?  I sure think so!

So please feel free to take a look around or shoot me a message if you'd like, I'd love to hear from you!
